There’s lots to celebrate in Big Sky this holiday season. The streets of the Big Sky will come alive December 13-15 for the 27th anniversary of the Christmas Stroll. Join us Friday at the Meadow Village Center and Saturday at Big Sky Town Center for a weekend of family friendly events, entertainment, and holiday cheer!

The Stroll is not the only thing we are celebrating. Ski season has just begun here in Big Sky. Take the weekend to get out and explore Big Sky’s vast winter trails system for downhill skiing and snowboarding, backcountry touring, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, fat-biking, and more. Come ski, stroll and stay with us this weekend with special offers from our lodging partners.

🎁  The Nutcracker at WMPAC- The Nutcracker is a cherished holiday tradition based on the classic tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman and set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score. Montana Ballet Company’s production of The Nutcracker is one of the region’s largest artistic collaborations, bringing together talented dancers, local and national choreographers, guest artists, live musicians, and expert designers. Audiences will be enchanted by the new choreography, theatrical elements, and the magic of this iconic ballet. Shows at 5 PM & 7 PM.

November 7-8: Gallatin Canyon Project Update – Lava Lake Bridge Work Delayed

Impact attenuator replacement at Lava Lake Bridge, initially scheduled to begin today, has been delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions. Crews plan to conduct the replacement activities on Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting.

While this work is underway, drivers can expect single-lane closures, flaggers, and 15-minute delays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. A 12-foot width restriction will also be in place during working hours.

October 25-27: 2024 Haunted Peaks Halloween Festival

HAUNTED PEAKS HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL | OCTOBER 25-27
A three day Halloween celebration presented by Lone Mountain Land Co. & Big Sky Real Estate in the Big Sky Town Center. This all ages event is filled with traditional holiday activities, films, music and great Fall fun (Updated 10.12*).

🎃 To help Big Sky get into the Halloween spirit our neighbors at The Waypoint are hosting a week long Horror Film Fest. This October, enjoy a frightfully good lineup of classic scary movies. Catch a show every night, October 18-24 | 8PM. Check out the full film lineup.

🎃 Skull & Roses Ball presented by Arts Council of Big Sky: DeadPhish Orchestra and the Arts Council of Big Sky invites you to the annual Skull & Roses Ball at the Waypoint. Doors 8PM and Music 9PM. The Ball will include a costume competition with prizes awarded to dedicated costume categories (Big Phish, Greatest Dead, People’s Choice, Most Artistic Costume). Winners will be announced on Halloween day on Town Center’s Instagram and Facebook.

🎃 5th Annual Haunted Run presented by Moving Mountains Fitness: Rock your favorite costume and brave 5k of fun Halloween themed challenges at the 5th Annual Haunted Run. Race starts at 1 PM for adults and 2:45 PM for kids. Packet pick up and registration will be located at Moving Mountains 11:30AM – 12:15PM for adults and 2PM – 2:45PM for the kids. Adult awards and block party will take place before the kids run. Enjoy a block party by Town Center East end businesses with live music, food trucks, a costume contest, raffle, and lots of Halloween fun! The Kids Fun Run will begin at Moving Mountains and end at The Waypoint where each participant will gain FREE entry into the Mini Monster Mash Kids Party presented by Big Sky PTO & Rocky Mountain Toy Co. (3-6PM).

🎃 Mini Monster Mash Kids Party presented by Big Sky PTO & Rocky Mountain Toy Co.: Get the family together for an evening of costumed fun at the Mini Monster Mash Kids Party. Enjoy traditional Halloween activities like our kids costume contest, dance party, classic Halloween movies, and more. Party from 3-6PM. Don’t forget to bring your best pumpkin design for a chance to win the 2024 Pumpkin King & Queen Carving Competition. Bring your pre-carved pumpkins with battery operated votives to The Waypoint to enter the contest. Our team of judges will pick their favorite designs and crown the Pumpkin King & Queen.

The first stop will be at Beehive Basin Brewery and the East end block party featuring Aaron Young at 1PM. Afterwards concert goers can make their way to other performances throughout Town Center like DJ Randy Kludt spinning old school vinyl at The Wilson Lobby Bar & Lounge at 3PM and DJ Swamp Moose at the Drunken Monk at 8PM. 🎃 Yappy Hour Presented By The Rocks: Yappy Hour is a costume contest and happy hour for people and pets from 2-4 PM at Fire Pit Park across from The Rocks. Win prizes from our panel of pet friendly celebrity judges, enjoy drink specials, treats, and help raise funds and awareness for RUFF (local nonprofit providing vital veterinary care to the underserved members of the Big Sky community).

🎃 Dia de los Muertos presented by Arts Council of Big Sky: Join us for Big Sky’s annual Dia de los Muertos celebration. Come build ofrendas, place votives and celebrate the memories of our departed loved ones together. Enjoy face painting and sample traditional cuisine. Music by local DJ. 1-4PM at Len Hill Park.

October 14-18: Gallatin Canyon Pavement Preservation and Safety Improvements Update

The Gallatin Canyon Pavement Preservation and Safety Improvements project on US Highway 191 has been substantially completed by the Montana Department of Transportation, CK May Excavating, and Riverside Contracting.

Seeding operations are now complete. That was the final outstanding task on this portion of the project.

South of Spanish Creek South

Work on replacing the impact attenuator on the bridge near the Lava Lake Trailhead has not been scheduled but could happen this week. Once work begins, it will take about three days to complete.

While attenuator work is underway, crews will be present during daytime hours and drivers can expect single-lane closures, flaggers, and 15-minute delays.

October: Town Center Improvements

Throughout October, you might notice some equipment moving around as the LMLC team conducts site grading and light utility work near Tips Up and in the parking lot adjacent to BASE. This early utility work is paving the way for future projects, including the upcoming public restroom facility. Thank you for your understanding as we work to enhance Town Center.
